Where's my Res ?

Last week i was in the process of copying file locally on my machine.
For some reason it got stuck and nothing could be done.
So i reset the cursed thing and only to fall back on the 800x600 res.
I increased the slider and the max res I got was 2048x1536.
I noticed that 1440x900 (my previous res) was gone.so i downloaded a newer (updated) driver and installed it. same sh*t...

Now i can't even look at my display properly as the text is really having an adverse effect on my eyes... anyone knows what might have happened ? or any tweaks to get the 1440x900 res back ? :(

by the way,my mobo is an Intel DG31PR. (work pc) and this is my monitor

Are you running Windows 7?

I'm having a similar issue on my old 17" CRT monitor. It's darned near unusable today - when it was fine just a week ago. I just ordered a 22" Asus monitor b/c of it.

We'll have to see how it goes in the long term - but your post hit a nerve.

my onboard one is nvidia and it allows me create custom screen resolutions
I gave away the motherboard model and I assumed you might figure that one out, it's Intel !!! :D how could you not have seen this.

but no worries, thanks all, i sorted it out. have to download a so called MonInfo and DTD calc in order to force the res but it's done.
