I think the i7 system because you have a better video card in it which will allow you to run Crysis at very high settings.

Is this supposed to be a joke?

I'm starting to think so too. :D

do you not mean 12 GB ram? it would be pointless running that rig with only 1.2GB ram

the first system. the GTX285 is way more powerful than the 8800

nope, i dont mean 12gb. 1.2gb. aka 1gb + 256mb = 1.2gb

well if it makes it better... it can be 1.5gb then. yeah lets pretend the first rig has 1.5gb.

do you think i7 950 / 1.5gb / gtx 285 will have better overall performance then x2 4400+ / 16gb / 8800 gts 512mb ?

my thought:

X2 4400+ / 16gig ram / 8800 gts 512mb will surely have better overall performance than i7 950 / 1.2gig ram / gtx 285.

the i7 rig will have constant sutter, hiccups and deep cut due to just 1.2gig ram. low amount of ram will make it unstable. although the i7 rig will absolutely have higher frame rate but it will not be stable. constant pauseness.

the x2 4400+ rig will have decent and very playable frame rate with absolutely no stablization issues. no stutter, no hiccups, no deep cut, no pauseness ect.... absolute stabilized due to the mighty huge 16gig ram.

you can fraps the x2 4400+ rig with absolute smoothness while the i7 rig will have constant stutterness.

the x2 4400+ / 16gb ram / 8800 gts 512mb have better overall performance than the i7 950 / 1.2gig ram / gtx 285 on Crysis in maximum setting.

give me some time to have these builds and put in theory buster once and for all.

ahlon64 3800+ / 10gig ram / 8600 GTS playing Assassin's Creed at maximum setting is like Warriors Orochi 2 on the ps2 when many action onscreen slow frame but still no sudden stutter and still playable.

intel qx9775 / 1.2gig ram / 4890 playing Assassin's Creed at maximum setting is like playing FEAR 1 at maximum setting on intel q9650 / 512mb ram / x850xt or playing rappelz max setting running through horizon town with intel q9650 / 512mb ram / x850xt

I don't think it would be too playable on either rigs as while I can play Crysis on my rig (X2 5000+, 2GB DDR2, and 9600GT) it doesn't work very well on max settings so I doubt a 4400+ with 16GB RAM and an 8800GTS would be much better.

x2 5000+, 2gb, 9600gt is your current rig..... buy 4x 4gb and throw your 2x 1gb on ebay. guarenteed youll play fine. although you might get 17fps.

She was half right... I could play it on max and get 17 FPS, but that's hardly what I'd call playable.

But if a 9600GT can't play Crysis on max I doubt an 8800GTS would do much better.

8800gts(G92) is pretty much the card i have, and at 1680x1050 i can play decently(fps in the 30's) with 2x AA ... But it doesnt use my 4gb of ram up, so anymore than 4gb is unnecessary...

I'd take my brother's 12GB DDR3 RAM, slap it in the i7 rig and PLAY CRYSIS! :P

Or is that not an option?

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. If you put the 12 gigs in there, I'm pretty sure it would perform a lot better than your other build that you listed.
