Firefox vs. Chrome

So I know I'm a little behind, but I just decided to try out Chrome for the first time today, and I must say I've been pleasantly surprised. I didn't try it out for so long because I've been so satisfied with Firefox, but Chrome is a great browser as well.

While it doesn't have near as many features as Firefox, I think it's the perfect browser for a lower end computer. I'm using it on my little 900Mhz EEE PC, and it runs MUCH smoother than Firefox. Firefox used to lag sometimes loading or switching tabs, but I've seen none of that with Chrome. Also, Firefox usually took up a minimum of 80MBs of memory, often up to 200MBs, but I have yet to see Chrome break 40MBs. Of course, these benefits are pretty much irrelevant on anything with a decent processor and 2-4GB of RAM, but it really helps with my meager 1GB and 900Mhz.

Of course, the lack of features makes it less than ideal. No where near the selection of addons that you can get for Firefox, and those you can get aren't nearly as easy to install. My biggest gripe, though, is the lack of smooth scrolling, a relatively minor feature, but very noticeable when I'm so used to it.

Yeah, I like Chrome because it opens quickly and seems faster all around. However, it definitely hangs up sometimes and is then REALLY slow, whereas firefox is always solid.

I use Chrome (7 days when came) and I caught virus and other sh*t... I must format pc.
Never more Chrome...

On FF i never caught virus.

I like Firefox but the newest version 3.0.11 REALLY sucks its slow as hell when I open multiple tabs.

Also I have never seen it crash so many times in my life as it has the last 2 weeks. So I am using a older version and love it :)

I've been using Chrome for a long time now, seems cleaner and gives you more space (providing you don't use nasty toolbars and add-ons, which I dont use)

It does run faster than FireFox. Liking it so far! :)

Chrome is fast...but thats about it tbh,I dont like its layout or look,I just couldnt be botherd with it i love firefox too much.

.

Yeah although i like firefox it does keep crashing on me too,but i dont mind it because when you re-launch it open the page you were on before the crash so nothing too big of a problem,Im sure they will sort it out eventualy.

I tried using Chrome today, tried visiting eBay... Crashed, so I reloaded it, new page on eBay... Crash.... So one last try, loaded Google.... crash, oh the irony. I uninstalled it, its a complete waste of time for me as of right now.

Firefox definately is the best in my opinion.

I did a presentation on Chrome my last semester of school. The class was "Software Usability" and we were searching for bugs :P Haha...needless to say, we found a number of them!

Stick with Firefox. Even with a few of the new "quirks" I've come across, I still feel it's the best all around browser. At least for me it's been the most stable. Any problems I've had are usually caused by plugins and such. Recently I've had some problems with Flash Player and my capture card... I still need to look into that :P

Well, I've been using Chrome pretty heavily the last couple of days, and I've experienced no hang ups or crashes.

I would definitely use Firefox on a more powerful PC, but Chrome seems ideal for use on my EEE.

firefox is nice n stable, has great add ons (my favourtie is the AVG anti virus ones, which i lack in chrome, the worst downfall of chrome)
Crome didnt like my laptops' touchpad scroll thingy. didnt work.
overall, if chrome gets support for more good toolbars and keeps opening fast, i may just ditch firefox. but not yet.

Chrome is way better. It's faster because each tab is it's own process. Firefox is the bulkiest, slowest, most pedantic browser on earth next to IE. Chrome is clean and doesn't have 35 toolbars crowding my real estate. Granted it does crash more often than I'd like, and doesn't display a few pages like it should, it's worth it to me to not have to count sheep waiting for it to start, or for pages to load, etc. It's a lot more intuitive, too. But then again, I'm a Google fan. Can't leave home without my G1.

Firefox can be optimized. Granted, you should have to do that, but properly set up it runs great. Also, any unwanted toolbars are your own fault.

Chrome has been wearing on me a bit, but I think I'm still going to stick with it for my EEE. Although I have been noticing some problems displaying some pages that IE and FF have no problem with. The worst is eBay, as I do quite a bit of business on there. It doesn't show the auction listing pages at all how it should, so I have to switch to FF for that. Another quirk I've noticed is that YouTube videos commonly don't load, and I have to refresh to get them too. You'd think that Google's own browser would work flawlessly on a site that Google owns, but I guess not.

+1 on loving the G1, though.

I liked chrome when i first downloaded it from Google, i then had firefox and i kept fire fox and deleted chrome because chrome doesnt include features like firefox. i feel as if its left something behind.
also chrome may seem faster than IE or Firefox but before when i tried accessing my windows live inbox and sending emails with the browser, it didnt let em due to Java Errors. even though i had java installed already.

chrome now fixed the tweak and you can send emails on hotmail.
also i like windows IE8 and firefox.
so im stayin with them,
