Laptop help

Okay, so I've had my laptop for awhile now. It was previously owned, so I have no idea what has been done to this computer. It's an Inspiron 6400, and I'm happy with it, sometimes. I want to completely rebuild my laptop, well.. Take it in to get it rebuilt. From the bottom up. So, what I want to know is how do I go about doing that. How does someone rebuild their computer? I can do that with a laptop right? Is it cheaper just to buy a new computer

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this.

No its not cheaper to buy a new laptop. If you take it to a shop they will reload all the running system from scratch at half the cost of a new one. Also some laptops are restricted into how much memory and ram that you can had. So if your happy with your laptop then have it reloaded.

They will charge you way more then the laptops worth. Laptops don't have much room for expanding which means your probably going to have to lose all the old parts. Also most old laptops have only a 4gb ram restriction. It would be much easier just to buy a new one.

The only thing you can do is increase the hard drive and get a bit more RAM. This will help, but it won't be a huge performance difference.

sure you could do that but i don't recommend a full top to bottom change. what do you use your laptop for? What's ur budget?

You cant really do a top to bottom change anyhow, laptop parts are not standardized, best you could even possibly do is memory, cpu, hard drive. Not really worth it...

So you're telling him that it is impossible to change the graphics card / lcd? Both are upgradable, even cards that are soldered in can be changed with some work..
