I need a good mouse suggestion

The mouse im looking for must be optical and wireless. I like the mouse I have right now, but the battery life on this is ridiculously short and its getting annoying and costly buying batteries for it.

So basically im looking for a mouse that lasts a very long time. Are there any mouses that dont use the triple a batteries, but instead like a separate adapter that charges the mouse?
 
Logitech makes some good wireless mice. The VX Revolution is a great mouse and runs off a single AA battery for about 2 months. The MX Revolution is rechargeable and comes with a charging dock. Might be a bit pricey though, they go on sale all the time.
 
I love the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. It's been replaced by the 4000 now. It's small, lightwieght and comfertable to hold. It runs off a single AA battery and last about 6 months for the normal man. I get about 3 months but use my computer much more then most people.

Best mouse I have ever bought. I'd never choose anything different. The battery life on it is superb and the fact that it is rechargeable is "green" :)

Getting a wired mouse would also be "green":P To the OP- Are cords really that much of a hassle? Or are you planning on using with a notebook/traveling alot? Because imo corded mice have the advantages of no batteries, faster response/tracking times...
 
@bomberboysk cordered mice don't have faster response/tracking times. There is nothing about a cord that makes them faster, it's all in the quaility of the mouse. I perfer wireless mice for gaming since there is no cord to drag around and get in the way. With the Microsoft optical mouse the average person changes a batter once every 6 months not bad if you ask me.

Actually there is, because wireless frequency inheritly has some lag,due to converting between what the mouse sees, sending it wirelessly, received by the receiver, then transmitted as a usb signal to the computer. It may only be 10-12 ms, but it can mean alot while gaming.
 
Any lag created from converting the signal to wireless would the about equal to the lag created by the resistance of the wire in a corded mouse. In either case it all happens "instantly" to the user. A lag of 10-12ms would be noticable, I do game with my wirerless Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse. Both The Microsoft and Logic wireless mice are dead on isntant and precise. In the early days I would agree with you that wireless mice had a lag but modern mice do not. I'm sure you can find a cheap no brand wireless mouse that sucks but I can find you a cheap no brand wired mouse that sucks too.

The resistance of the mouse cord, thats what, 5ft of shielded copper wire? maybe 1ms at most.Case and point, even used an internet connection in a school? Some of the lines in the school where i go are over 800ft long, and pinging from one of the furthest computers from the server, to the closest computers(in the library), the difference is within the margin of error of testing. Wireless signals on the other hand inheritly have more lag due to the extra conversions that need to take place. Compare an ethernet connection, to an 802.11b/g/n connection. Place both computers 25ft away from the router, run multiple ping tests from each computer, the one on wifi will consistantly have 5-10ms higher ping, more if there are many bluetooth devices or other sources of noise in the area. Hence the reason razer JUST now released their first wireless mouse, and even it will have lag. Not saying its enough to be noticeable for most users, but for gaming that little edge a wired mouse gives can be a difference of "life or death" in a game.

Logitech LX7. Battery life is amazing! It's also a good mouse all around. Perhaps a bit heavy for gaming, but you can run it on a single battery ;)

There's also the LX8. Redesigned, perhaps a little larger, better button layout... I've never actually used one, but I love my LX6 and LX7.

As far as wireless mice are concerned, the LX7 is a good mouse, i have one on a secondary computer(actually it may be an LX6, its the one without the extra buttons) and the batteries last for awhile. For gaming i do prefer a wired mouse, but for the price they are excellent mice. Another mouse that could be considered is the G7 mouse, it has two batteries so you can charge one while gaming with the other.
