OK so I have a budget for my new computer that I will either go to Frys and buy and have a computer tech friend help me build or buy through Ibuypower or similar. I plan to do lots of gaming and I am a computer science major so i need to be able to write some programs and such in it. My budget is 1000 I dont need a mouse or monitor, though I wouldn't mind a monitor if its within budget. i'd like the Razer Tarantula keyboard as well. Any one have any tips?

Build, i could get you a parts list off newegg with better parts(eg- not a cheap crappy power supply like that, quality memory, better hdd, etc) for around that price.

agreed, dont trust them ibuypower bs, u dont kno what brands your getting, I was lookin at their website before I built my new rig and it doesnt specify the brand on some of the parts they put it, it jus says "some major brand"

is all that pretty well specced out? anything i could cut a little here and there and not see much difference? I have a copy of XP, but its 32 bit or whatever and I'm told something on that needs a 64bit OS. It doesnt have to be AMD, I was just doing that because it seemed like I got more processing speed for my money with AMD as apposed to Intel. but I like the spec a lot. Is buying parts from Newegg generally cheaper than somewhere like Frys? thanks for all your help guys.

ok ill type out the info so that if anyone else looks they can read it more easily...

OK apparently I can buy a version of windows through the school for only about 10 dollars, so take that out of the price. Also apparently a friend of mine has a 5% discount and free shipping from newegg so thats another little bit off. I still need to shave off about 50 bucks what do you think is the easiest thing to tone down a little?

sounds good Im gonna play with the figures and try to see what I can do. That case is good? I like the first one so i think ill go with it. Thanks a lot bomberboysk
