hello all!

so i just got a few new fans...4 80mm and 1 230cm side case fan....for the smaller fans do i want the air blowing towards or away from my parts...ex vga...i'm tryin to mainly cool down my vga...9800 gx2..run hot!

Where do you plan on installing the fans? In the case side panel or inside the case?

i have my 230mm case fan on the inside side of my case...i have 2 8-mm at the bottom of my case blowing air directly on my VGA one on top on my VGA sucking air out and another 80mm on the side of the VGA blowing out air...is that the best or most sufficient way to place my fans for optimal air movement?

It depends, Really. You should have it so that hot air that is blown of components has a place to exit, and is not distrubuted throughout the case.

Typically

(Fan)------>(Unit)------->(Exhaust Fan or Vent)------->Out

I have about 4 fans total in my case and they are pretty quiet and do an exellent job in ventilation and temperature control.

My motherboard has two 3 pin headers which allow me to control fan speeds externally.

I reccomend controlling the exhaust fans because when your computer is idle you can turn them down and when your gaming you can ramp them full speed.

That might be the best setup for that case, if I'm picturing your description right. Typically you want a unidirectional flow. In this case, intake from the side, bottom and front, and exhaust through the top and back. As long as you don't have crossflow you shouldn't have an issue. Do you have a program that monitors GPU fan speed? That would be the easiest and most effective fix if you want to lower your GPU temps.

ya i think i mite have sum crossflow..tryin to fix it....when i just had my 4 80mm fans going the temp was 140 now...when i installed my 230mm side case fan its around 145....?hmmm

ok i got my fans figured out...took a little moving around, but found the best combo for the cooler system...my fans lowered my case temp about 15-20 degrees! :) MORE GAME TIME FOR ME!!! combo i used was 1 side case fan on side of case 230mm....3 80mm on the side as well and 1 80mm ontop of my vga...:) thanks for all the help guys!!!!! +props!
