russb, thanks for the support, but I have spoke to apj about it as has bomberboy and for obvious reasons, we can't sit here saying "go here where we have a forum and news and you can all get together here instead

people, its not the name, or the fact that its a clan. here is what I dont want to happen
1) You create a formal "official" looking group/clan/anything trying to make it look like it has the endorsement/is somehow formally linked to the site. If we dont moderate it then it cant be official.
2) I dont want you creating a website under a different name and trying to take users to that site to discuss games, that just takes traffic away, and we want to grow this site remember
If you want to organise games, timing, grouping etc do it on this site, thats what we are here for
To be fair I hate the name clan, we alredy gaming group set up. Is there some functionality that you need which we are somehow not providing????
What we don't have is a place to clearly show what resources we have (servers for example) and who is using what when which you can put on a site using gametracker to show game and vent/TS
we do not have a place to discuss who has steam, xfire, what games they have, when they can play etc. We tried to do that here and look at the state of the cflan thread, it is messy apart from the first thread which even in itself is hardly totally clear because we don't have the tools to make all of the information clear, such as dedicated forum areas, vwar, dedicated areas to show recent news or ideas.
we have nowhere to permanently show the ips of servers or current ideas or current goings on. Yes you can start a thread, you can put posts here and there but as i said above, it isn't as clear enough for what we need.
That is why we started another site and please could we come to a compromise because i want to put something to you like this:
Everyone that is a regular on this site comes here not by force, but volountarily for fun because they enjoy the company. Not everyone in CF wants to be in a clan, or play games with others on here,so not everyone will use the other site, and the other site isn't for banter or anything like that that we have on computerforum, so that side of the site will stay here. The other site is purely for ideas about the clan, when we should meet, what we should play etc, not about new game releases, not about computer help, other than the occasionaly conversation, not about general chat either, so CF and cfclan are 2 totally different sites.
To give an example of what i am trying to say, look at me and bomberboy. I put time into the cfclan site, i post in the cfclan site and think up ideas to help the clan as does bomberboy, and then post the stuff on the cfclan forums, on the homepage etc, but then we come here to do other things and i know that i for a fact spend more time here and will continue to do so even if the clan turns into a clan and not a congregation. I know that for a fact because the CoD4 clan i am in, i visit that site maybe half an hour a week, and that is a few minutes every few days, then i come here, it is the same thing.
What i am trying to say is that on paper, the cfclan site will take traffic from here, but in practice, it will do damn near nothing at all because cf is something you can spend hours on, cfclan is something yuo check up on, maybe reply to a thing or 2, then leave, that is why i only wanted a link in my signature, and that is why i appealed, even asking for a bend in the rules to apj.
Now, that "rant" if you will was for 2 things, 1 to show people like russ that yes, i am trying to get atleast a scrap of support from the people at CF that count for help, and 2 as a last ditch effort to show my thoughts to a cf higher upper to try and get their support.
Now, if the latter doesn't work, then it is just about the end for posts and stuff on the cfclan on this site and the rest will have to be done over our site, steam, vent etc because it can't go any further than it has on here with the resources that this website has.
And a last note, we are trying to get another name up, I am thinking about the lines of initials of CF, but any ideas are welcome, I haven't had my idea approved by the others yet, so we will see
