Intel Core 2 or Intel Core 2 Quad?

Hi,

I am just one step away to buy a new Laptop by HP.com. I have a question about Intel Processors:

Which CPU would you take:

Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9000 (2.00 Ghz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

or

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9900 (3.06 GHz, 6 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)

Differences are only the speed in GHz and the number of cores.

I appreciate your help. :)

What are you doing with the laptop? That's the real question. If you are just getting one for school or web surfing then the Dual Core will be more than enough. If you are doing Architecture and Design...like your sig shows...then the Quad would be better.

I personally would go for the Quad Core processor. That processor will do everything you need it to in a laptop.

Both are great processors and will run apps just fine on a laptop:D

****That sig is considered spam, just to lessen the burden on you...might want to remove it:)****

Thank you for your fast answer. You are right, I want to do rendering and such things with my laptop.
Thanks again.

I am just speaking from experience here at CF...a new member with a sig promoting another website will more than likely be considered spam.

The Admin and Moderator team keep this forum very clean of spam and outside promotions. They do this for a good reason.

I will PM mep916...our spam ninja...and see what call he makes about it. He may decide to leave it, he may decide to remove it.

I forgot to ask, why my signature could be spam. They are my websites and I am proud of to show them. ;)

It's fine. You're allowed two personal sites in your signature, so long as you're contributing to the forum. I usually ban members that post shit contributions, only posting to promote their sigs. I don't believe you're doing that.

Awww, doesn't that just warm your heart to see? Haha, the only thing that's most likely a draw back would be battery life. I imagine the two extra cores would take a hatchet to your mobile time. Personally, I'd still go quad though, just take care of the battery and whatnot.

Well The Quad core, definitely! 4 cores reduces the load on the CPU increasing the performance (and makes multi-tasking so much faster).

However, modern video games rely on the graphics card (GPU) more than the CPU, so either would be fine with all of those games, as long as you have a decent graphics card.
