Recommendation for GFX Card upgrade

I currently have the MSI ATI R4850 http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/msi_r4850/

Its a good card but i want better. I want to upgrade to a card that will give me a huge jump in performance from the current card i have. I want a card that will be able to play top of the line games (crysis, fallout etc) at maximum settings at a silky smooth level with no stuttering or lag of any sort whatsoever.

I am hoping to spend below $350 BUT i will spend more if it needs to be. Thanks for reading mates

the 2nd link is a package deal for 2 gxc card that will crossfire right? i am weary on crossfiring (thats why i am not going to crossfire my r4850) due to its lack of support for many games

No, it is a single card that has 2 GPUs, think of it like a Dual-core processor. It will probably be detected as 2 cards but it only takes up one slot.

will the computer see it as crossfiring though? or will the computers and programs view it as a single card and take advantage of both cores?

I assume it acts as a crossfired card, most modern games can and will make use of it. Any game old enough to not recognize the crossfire will obviously be old enough to run fine on just one of the GPUs anyways.

gtx 295 is a monster-top of the line but very expensive

4870x2 is a good choice too, make sure you have good enough ampage on the psu or you will run into problems!

also there is heat issues, the 4870x2 generates alot of heat but it should be a problem if you have goo airflow in your case!

Another thing to note, is that you may be bottlenecked by your processor. I don't know what that is, so it may not apply, but TWO GTX295's won't do you any good if your processor isn't up to snuff.

make sure the slots are up too the challenge. You don't want to end up with one card on x16 and another x8, you'll end up bottlenecking then.

If I were going to stick with ATI, rather than get a 4870 X2, I'd rather get 2 x 4890's in crossfire... Unless I'm mistaken, buying 2 HD 4980's is only slightly more than a single HD 4870 X2, and is faster.
If I were going to get Nvidia, I'd get 2 GTX260's or a single GTX285. Myself, I wouldn't get a 295, it's not that much faster than the 285's, and costs outrageous!
Still, considering the card you already have, you won't see a huge improvement upgrading right now... You may want to wait on the next generation, next line-up of cards to see a big increase.
