for my new build i was thinking of using vista 32 as a sort of test to see how i like it, then i'll go for vista 64 or windows 7 64. or should i just go straight for 64 bit? I will only have 2gb of ram so im thinking 32 bit.

If you attempt to upgrade from a 32-bit to a 64 bit Windows operating system I have read that one will encounter a lot of problems with drivers and other errors. 32-bit Windows Vista is history. You want 64-bit if you are buying new.

Windows XP 64-bit is not a good choice but if you are going for Vista or Windows 7 go for the 64-bit operating system.

get the 64 bit then you will be eligible for the windows 7 upgrade. not a bad deal.
Memory is cheap. get it to at least 4 gig. Its a cheap an easy upgrade.

There would be no errors or problems because the installer won't finish.

It will give you an alert and then close the installer.

Everyone recommends 64 bit. My friend has given me a free copy of Vista Ultimate 32-bit, completely unused. he bought that and then discovered 64-bit operating systems. Lucky me!
32-bit for now it is! I will definately get Windows 7 64-bit when it comes out and is nice and stable, and when DX11 cards and games come out... by then my build will be obsolete!
