Ok. I have a Dell Dimension e521. My buddy gave me a HP dvd640 Lightscribe DVD R/RW drive. My computer has different connections from the dvd burner. Is there any way I can hook this up??? Thnx.

You mean it's either a SATA drive or an IDE drive?
Your machine should have both connectors. You may just need a cable. Which one below does it look like?

The e521 if i remember right, has no ide header. It only has 4 sata ports and the optical drive is also sata.

yes my computer has SATA connectors. the dvd burner has an IDE connection.

Then you would need to purchase a pci ide adapter, although it would be just as easy to spend ~$25 on a sata optical drive.
