processor/motherboard issues

I have been warned that dell motherboards can be hard when upgrading CPUs, but it seems that my socket AM2 motherboard will not support an average Fan /Heatsink. i just recieved my CPU in the mail today:

i was wondering if i should use the stock heatsink/fan that came with the computer. i cant link the heatsink/fan, but im currently running on a dell dimension c521. im trying to upgrade from the piece of crap stock processor they gave me.

my current processor runs at 35W, my new processor runs at 65W.
will the stock fan/heatsink work fine? its running my current processor at around room temperature. id like finding a new heatsink/fan to be a last resort thing

It will do well on idle but once you load it you should see overheating within 10 minutes. (this is just experience from the past talking)

Best way to prove this theory is either download prime95 here http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/browse.php?c=18

or any CPU program you have...another decent one (1 program per core) is http://users.bigpond.net.au/CPUburn/

It is not as heavy as Prime95 but will give you a normal 100% loadout...prime95 shows you a unnatural scenario but makes sure your CPU wont overheat :)

it says they are for overclockers (prime95), i dont plan on running anything highend, but this seemed really cheap for the quality. gonna run WoW, spore, and orange box. when you say load it do you mean just turning on the computer or running high end games?

also, if i cant run it on stock cooler, is there any way i could get a socket AM2 heatsink to fit in there? there isnt a normal slot for a heatsink, since dell put in a custom bracket. ima go check what the system is running atm, wattage wise

Its to test that your overclock is 100% stable. It doesn't overclock your system however , we only need it to heat up your CPU to see if your heatsink will work for the new chip :)

Also when I say load I mean stress the CPU aka full load (100% working)

I assume from your first post you have a temp gauge to monitor the CPU? Make sure it doesn't pass 50c on load...I run a 5400+ on my mothers system and that is my "safe" temps.
