New 6 core Opti's

Intel has had a 6 core xeon for awhile, but its based off the core 2 duo's(basicaly three core 2 duo dies on one chip).

So Im assuming the AMD one is bassed off Phenom II, wouldnt that make it the best at the moment?

Well hopefully they can fast track this to consumer market... That would be sweet.

Nice Find zer0_c00l. Looks very impressive. Socket F is land grid array. Sweet, it looks like AMD is finally going away from pin grid array in some of their processors.

I thought quad-core processors were going to be around longer before Advanced Micro Devices stepped it up to six-core processors. Man, computer chip technology just keeps getting faster and better in large leaps.

Technically the core 2 duo's are better than the phenom II, they are slightly faster clock for clock. Plus, these cpu's are only in the LGA server socket right now(for desktop cpu's amd is sticking with PGA)

But the Core 2 Duos aren't better than the Phenom II processors because all Phenom II processors have three or four cores versus the Core 2 Duo processors only having two cores.

My major complaint against the Core 2 Duos is how expensive they are. The Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 is $110 versus the the Phenom II 710 Tri-Core which is only $99. As you know the Phenom II 710 also beats the Core 2 Duo E7400 in processing power.

Actually there are dual core phenom II's and dual core athlon II's. But the point is, 6core xeon's are like 3 core 2 duo's(just like the quads are two core 2 duo cores, intel didnt have monolithic quadcores until i7). No doubt though that for the bang for the buck amd cpu's are a heck of alot better.

The best news of all is that tyan makes dual socket F mobos with PCI-Express X16 slots and ddr2 ram!
The fastest consumer computer is AMD's once again!

Actually...Id think that would belong to skulltrail still since those tyan server mobo's dont support crossfire/sli.

depends alot on the app/game, a 295GTX will be bottlenecked by the cpu in alot of games (UT3). and alot also depends on how many cores the game supports.
