So Ive noticed my new 4890 makes a slight high pitch whine when things are loading... Like:

Booting computer/Windows load
Loading games etc

It stops after a while, but is this normal or should I get it fixed?

Thats called coil whine. You could try opening it up and gluing over the coils or someting, or rma it, but even then you could probably get coil whine. It wont shorten the life of your card and it doesnt mean impending failure though if thats what you are wondering.

Ok, well its kinda annoying hmmm, ill just keep it for a while and maybe rma it when the 4890x2 come out or something.

Yes i had this happen on mine for the first week of having it,Then the fan started clicking like mad....i RMA mine and they sent me a brand new one.

i recommend you do the same.

My new card doesnt do either now :)

Also, just to mention, if you cannot totally pinpoint the source of the sound, it can be the power supply also whining, or even both gpu and power supply.

I actualy thought it was my Psu at first too,But i tested it on my old gfx card and its silent so it was obviusly the card.

to the OP....return it!

So return it you reckon... one of my mates here in NZ waited then returned his card and they gave him a credit (at the price he paid) which got him a much better card.

My PSU never whined before.
