hi

im not d/l anything at the moment

my torrent program says im d/l like half a k all the time?

what is it d/l?

is this normal?

its going to take up all my d/l's

that data is what ur torrent client uses to communicate with servers even if u r not down or uploading anything. It's normal. Just leave it like that.

Yeah i think hes right....it does still slow down the connection even if your not downloading anything.

I say disable it from starting with windows, only open it when you need it open.

Really shouldnt be "helping" i would think. The OP has already mentioned using a torrent client, which for most uses are illegal(other than say, downloading or seeding linux distro's perhaps), and also against forum rules to discuss.

On the contrary, there's plenty of legal uses for Bittorrent, there's Linux distros, legal paid downloads from bittorrent.com, NASA released high res images on torrents I think, Blizzard even distributes World of Warcraft updates and doodads via the protocol.

ya, ur right, a lot of gaming sites let u download patches and stuffs using torrent. Torrent itself is not illegal. It's just a new technology.

Which is at the moment being used for illegal purposes, but VCRs let you record TV shows and they werent made illegal

CBC also experimented with releasing an episode of "The Next Great Prime Minister" if I recall on Bittorrent

Not trying to start a debate about copyright though but to consider an entire protocol illegal because of one of its' purposes is a bit.. broad

Like utorrent (this is all i can speak for), if you have it opened, or you exit it, it defaults to the tray, so make sure there are no instances what so ever about that torrent program for it not to download.
