Hi.

I seem to have a problem,
One morning when i booted my computer up, it reached the desktop and come up with my avast saying "Key Is Invalid" and it had a heap of that "Windows Installer" Crap show up on start up, so i instantly thought it was a virus. Since my avast wasn't working anymore, i ran a Full Scan with Malware bytes,
It picked up a few Trojans in a folder called "System Volume Information" or something like that, after the viruses were detected and removed, I tried to get into my C: Drive and it said "C: Is Not Accessible, Access Is Denied.
I then re installed Avast and ran a boot time scan, after that there was still no change, i still couldn't get into my C: Drive, I then ran a Disc Check, and still no change, It says my C: had "0" Bytes Free And "0" Bytes Used, I've tried everything i can think of, i just don't want to wipe it cause i have something over 20Gb of music i will find impossible to get back and a few other things i would like to keep.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Dan

Hello,

Have you tried accessing it from safe mode? How about a live cd? You may have better results cleaning and backing up data from a live cd, hopefully its just the main os that isn't reading it correctly. Try live linux distro.

There is a virus that when removed causes that message. Right-Click on the drive and select explore, you should be able to get in. if you cannot then it is something different.
If you can get in using explore, do the following:

Go to tools>>>Folder Options>>>View
Uncheck the "Hide Protected Operating System Files"
Explore your C:\ Drive. Once opening, Delete any file named "Autorun.inf"
Also, do a file search and delete any copy of that file on your system. Usually this file is used by CD's to automatically run once inserted. if there are any on your hard drive chances are they are part of a virus.

That autorun.inf file is a leftover of the virus, that would usually activate the trojan when you opened C:\

Make sure you recheck the hide oparting system files box!!!

Nope, still could not get into it.

I couldnt even boot into a CD neither get into the BIOS, which is very weird,
When i try to boot off CD, it does nothing, it just boots up normally, even when i try to get into the BIOS, i hold down Delete, and it brings me to a screen asking me to select Operating System, and the only option is Windows7, i wouldnt worry bout it now, i had half of my music nacked up so i just wiped it and done a clean install,
Very interesting though, wouldnt mind looking more into it incase of similar future problems

Thanks anyway,

Would still appreciate any idea's anyone has.

Some BIOS have a setting that restricts drives from being accessed. Make sure that nothing is locked in your BIOS, and if it is, defaut pass should be admin.
