cool thanks, I had heard about the mugging thing but I thought I'd already gotten past it when I passed through the bandit blockade going into the dark valley. (some very high level stalkers happened to attack them when I came up, so I just wait for it to finish, and then afterward blind dogs, and boars came and killed all the stalkers, giving me my vintar!)
so Ill definitely stash my stuff and spend all my money.

Yeah its after you do the freedom quests that triggers the return trip to garbage,be sure to do all the freedom quests as you can get alot of guns (Tr 301 ,the M4 copy) that you can sell later after you mule them to a blue storage box.it will take quite a few trips going back and forth btween the factory but it is helpful after you get mugged.
The 301 is pretty good to upgrade for now for accuracy route,the Sgi is a bit better but you dont get those till late in the game same goes for the G36 and the 2000 which you dont get the oppurtunity to get just before the point of no return.So the TRs 301 you would get most use out of.
none of the guns are as good as they were in the first game.They all degrade rapidly and jam all the time much more than they do in real life.
The vintorez is so terrible in this last game the bullet drop and damage is so terrible beyond 200 meters that you get better kills from the ak 74 upgraded.I loved it in the first game .So mule it as well as all 9 X 39 MM ammo to sell later on when you need cash.
But I like I said the damage,range and accuracy for all the guns have been reduced even for the once uber SVD Sniper rifles.They only get 1 shot kills at ranges 400 meters or so about 50 % ,body shots almost never 1 shot unless you are against the basic bandits in the jackets.The game is pretty messed up even with all the recent patches up tom 1.10
For a suit with night vision you can buy 1 and upgrade it.Best suit in the game is the Burlat suit upgraded for armor which you can buy when you get to Yantar from the scientist.It has almost as good armor as the exo with 1 less artifact container but has better enviroment protects so it kinda evens out.The exoskeleton used to be the best in the first game but you cant run it and you can in the Burlat.Towards the end in this game you have to be able to run to survive regardless of armor protection,radiation is not as bad as in the first game
So I would get a fully upgraded Burlat for armor,
TRs 301 and 2000 when you get late game so you will have good 2 rifles firing same ammunition,Reason for this is another terrible decision on the developers part .After you reach point of no return where you cant go back to resupply or repair your armor or guns you have to make it through probably 4 hours of heavy non stop firefights with no way to repair.It sucks.
It would probably be best to have 2 armored suits for endgame because your first one will definitely be worn out now that I think about it.
I hope I didnt give away too much. But I would try that first playthrough if you dont get sick of it to replay it.LOL
Edit * Oh yeah dont sell any artifacts until you get to Yantar.The Scientist is the only trader in game that gives good prices for artifacts
