Hello,

That sounds about right, you got 80gb and 74gb left, thats plenty. Your os may take up 2gb depending on what you are running. And plus software you have installed. Disk cleanup is fine, defrag is fine, if you wanna check to see what folders/files are taking up the most space, check out Directory Size or similar, I use treesize:

Do not delete from windows dir unless you know what you are doing.

If you want stuff on your hard drive to go faster, find the WD Velociraptor on NewEgg. Fast as ... something fast. A CHEETAH

You won't get any more room than ~74.5GB like StrangleHold said. I would also recommend getting rid of LimeWire and FrostWire for protection reasons.
If you want more space, or speed, you could get a Velociraptor hard drive. You'd have as much space as you do now AND faster access times.

deleting files and programs won't noticeably make your computer run faster. Having more files on your hard drive takes the computer only a tiny bit longer to find what it needs. It's possible there will be a slight speed up but nothing like your looking for. Closing and disabling any of those unwanted programs will make a difference. However the best performance increases will come from removing viruses/spyware/adware/malware or a faster processor and or more memory, or higher rpm hard drive.

Hi, you can delete some temporary files.

In fact, almost the temporary files are restored in the C:/Docucments and Settings/Users’ name, you can remove them as follows:

1. Open C: /Documents and Settings/Users’ name/Cookies, delete all the files, because it restores the left index files when visiting websites.

2. In the C: /Documents and Settings/Users’ name/Local Settings/History, delete the files since they belong to history record.

3. In the C: /WINDOWS/Temp, remove all these temporary files.

4. In the C:/Documents and Settings/Users’ name/Local Settings/Temp, remove such user’s temporary visiting files.

5. Open C:/Documents and Settings/Users’ name/Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files, delete all the page files.

6. In the C:/Documents and Settings/Users’ name/Recent folder, you can delete all these shortcuts of recent browsed files.

7. In the C: /WINDOWS/Software Distribution/download, get rid of all the temporary files when downloading.

8. In the C: /WINDOWS/Driver Cache/386, delete all the compressed files.

That pretty much nails it. Also make sure you arent running all those applications at the same time because they contribute to slowing down your computer as well. Also, just wondering, what are the current specs on your computer.

And slow down his internet meanwhile...plus it would be easier to just use firefox's/IE's tools for deleting (most of) that....
