do you guys think this power supply is able to power up the PNY 9600GT. i am trying to upgrade the sony PCV-C42L.

i am doing this for my friends, currently i lack the adaptor to connect his comp to my monitor so i couldn't see his specifications. i believe it should be a Pentium 4, it has 2GBs of rams pc3200U ram, window xp media edition. do you guys think this power supply can do the job? i am trying to upgrade from 300Wat to this 630Wat.

or maybe this one? this is a 400Watt

it is 12V rails

what you guys think?

You would be best off going with one that is not an unknown brand, such as corsair, seasonic, FSP, Antec, Xclio, Zalman, Thermaltake, BFG, Pc Power and Cooling, OCZ, etc.

of course i have thought about those powersupplies. however, because the computer is from sony, so the case is extremely small. i don't know if these supplies will fit the case, and the links are guaranteened to fit.. do you think that will fit the case?

Well from looking at the Power supplies you posted they both look like regular ATX power supplies. Look on you existing power supply there should be a sticker telling you everything about it please post every thing it says or better yet post a picture of it.

Looks like a standard ATX power supply in there, a 9600gt would probably fit in there as long as it has a pci-express slot.

thx guys i will upload what it says on the powersupply tomorrow due to the crappy camera on my iphone can't see crap !

here is a picuture that migh give u guys an idea of how big the case is

as you can see it is pertty small

do you guys think a 9600gt can fit into that?

That looks like a regular mid-tower case with a regular ATX power supply maybe it's the picture but I'm pretty sure that's just a regular mid-tower case.

I see that post about the OCZ 500w modXstream, why are they so more expensive than my stealthXstream and have a SLI certified badge? Anyway I brought the OCZ stealthXstream 500w to run a ati 4770 or 3870 or go nvidia 9600gt / 9800gt so think a good quality 500w supply will run the 9600GT and that system okay and is prob the best value for someone who wants to run that card..

It looks like it has a regular ATX with the standard screw pattern. The OCZ should fit. The 9600 should fit too.

ModXStream has better internals, and is modular.

sorry guys i couldn't find my camera but i just bought a BFG 450 powersupply from bestbuy and installed a 9800GT in it. my friend wanted it quick so i didn't order from online.

Best buy?? Why??

Future Reference: PC Parts are WAY overpriced at Best Buy or CC

but, when you need it fast its always a last resort
