Sleep-Hibernation Problem

Hello all!

I just brought my moms laptop completely back from the dead (completely took it apart and re-put it back together, replaced the battery and the keyboard, clean OS, everything). Soo, it seems to work perfectly. Except one thing. When I put the laptop in either sleep or hibernation, it does not resume. The insides are still making noises, but the screen does not come back on. I can fully turn it off and do a hard restart, I just can't get it to resume. Any ideas?

Control panel> Device Manager > double click on Network Adapters, Click the "Power Management Tab" then un-select the box that says "Let this device wake computer".
Try that and see if that works?

In fact I Encountered several problems , and my laptop slowed down :( the last solution I did it was the format :rolleyes:

But now I can't find the option "Let this device wake computer" in device manager , I work with Vista

Ok. It's not going to be an "option" in under anything in Device Manager.
You have to select your Network Adapter (i.e double click, right click>properties). When that comes up, there should be a separate tab on the very right that says "Power Management" under that tab should be a few option, un-select the "Let this device wake computer".
 
Ok, but why the network controller? What does that have to do with sleep and hibernation?

So anyway, the "Let this device wake the computer" was already unchecked, but I unchecked the box that says "let the computer power this down". And voila! It works.

Now. I'm a little confused. How would you have known to do that.. is this a common problem?

You're welcome :)

It is a common problem with sleep/hibernation. The network card is constantly send/receiving information to/from the router. And since sleep/hibernation doesn't completely shut down your computers hardware, it keeps the computer from sleeping.

You can also manage what wakes your computer up (i.e keyboard, mouse, usb device). You can access that the same way you accessed the power management for your Network Card..

Yes I find it but it's already unchecked and Inactive
