Hey guys, my old graphics card crapped out so i need a new one. My budgets around 50-70 bucks. The games i usually play are Wow, dota and i would love to be able to play some of the newer stuff(maybe starcraft 2). I like to game, but that is not my priority. I run vista, and was also wondering if i should buy a cheaper card and also get some more memory as well. Here are my current specs.
CPU INTEL E6750 2.66G
ASUS P5N-E SLI NF650I SLI 775
2 gb of Ram and a 600w power supply.

My old Card
VGA XFX PVT84JUDD3 8600GT 256MB

Id appreciate all your help.

Try a 9500GT or a Radeon HD 4650/4670, they should be able to run the games you mentioned. You can find models with 1gb memory but most are 512mb.
And best of all they are in your price range :)

hope that helps

I don't believe there is a better card for $70 that is better then the 8600GT expect for maybe a 4670 it will be better then the 8600GT but not by a lot and probably not enough for you to notice a difference.

or you can get the 4650 which is about the same as a 8600GT but is only $50 with free shipping .

or you can just get another 8600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130297

but if you wanted to see a big difference in performance then you will need at least one of these.

I just brought the Ati 4670 very cheaply from the uk eBuyer website and hope it will run gta4 at playable settings. I think the Ati cards are good value but there are also loads of second hand ones on ebay not sure if its worth the risk though..

I have just been reading a load of reviews and seems the 4670 is inbetween the 9500GT and not far from the 9600GT im not sure if this is deffanatly correct but it seems good value. If anyone knows how do these kind of cards compare to the xbox360 just an idea because I was going to get a xbox360 but dropped the idea and decided to buy a graphics card instead.

I appreciate all the help so far guys. Ill definitely look into the mentioned video cards. Do you guys think i should sacrifice some of the video card to buy more memory too?

Compared to a xbox 360 the 4670 would be a super Nintendo. If you won't to see how it compares to other cards then here you go http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...ity/3DMark06-v1.1.0-HDR-SM3.0-Score,1339.html. You might be able to play GTA4 on low or medium low settings depending on you CPU for GTA4 to run smoothly you really have to have a quad core CPU.

I say get the best graphics card you can get then later on get some more RAM I have 2GB and only 50% gets used on average so I don't really need more right now but plane on getting some soon along with my other upgrades. If your RAM is almost maxed out then it might be time to upgrade or you can just try shutting down some programs so not as much is used.

My processor is more than perfect for gta4 and it will run with this card okay (ati 4670 1GB), I have seen this card running gta4 on good settings, dont go against budget cards like this you can still use them to play games. I brought this card because im on a tight budget and can add a second 4670 at a later date in crossfire and outperform the Ati 4850..

I build computer for a living and I have used the 4670 more then enough to know what it can do and to know what its looks like compared to say a 4890. I never said you couldn't play games with it I said it would be low or medium setting if you won't good FPS other wise you can play at medium high no problem but may be a bit of lag. Actually crossfire 4670s is not as good as a 4850 because most games can't even use multiple GPUs so you would be stuck using one 4670 in a game and the other just sitting there which would mean a 4850 is the better choice. Maybe this will help you understand http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/254816-33-4670-4850.

4670's crossfired will beat a 4850, but only in games that fully support SLI. And even then, your paying 2x $59.99 or $69.99 for a 4670, while a 4850 is $99 or so.

Yea I know crossfire 4670's will beat a 4850 but like you said it is useless unless the game fully supports crossfire other wise it is best to go with a 4850. Also sapphire 4850 is $95 free shipping.

HaHa just to annoy you two even more I just phoned and canceld that order im gonna buy a 4830 or 4850 because the 4830 is only £10 more at £66 atm. Sorry just get annoyed people putting budget stuff down a lot, hopefully I may be able to almost max out gta4 with the 4830/4850 what do you reckon?

Nothing you do annoys me besides it's your money and your computer where just here to help. I was never putting budget cards dnow I was stating the fact that they are budget cards and there for preform like budget cards and in case you have not noticed I have a 4850 which is a budget card in fact my whole computer was built on a budget of $210 I wasn't even able to afford a GPU when I first built my system so don't tell me I'm putting budget stuff down when everything I have was built on barely nothing.. I can a sure you that a 4830/4850 will not be maxing out GTA4 for that you would need a 4870 or most likely a 4890.
