Phenom II = AM2+ or AM3?

does it really make any difference if the am3 processor is operational in an am2+ motherboard or an am3 motherboard?
I know thst it depends on how many cores (and i found a quad core am2+) but does a am3 phenom still work the same way (same speed and temperature) as if it would in an am3 motherboard?

It will run just as fast as if it were in an AM3 board.

The number of cores is irrelevant to what you're asking.

What about temperature? And motherboard/cpu functionality, someone told me that am3 processors in am2+ boards cause incompatability issues with certain cpu features.

If the motherboard manufacturer creates a reliable BIOS for the AM2+ board, and clearly lists a CPU Compatibility chart, and your CPU is on that list, that CPU will run as if it were on an AM3 board with no loss of function or incompatibility.

What about temps? That depends on the architecture of the chip, your cpu cooling, and case airflow.

Yeah it's mostly the memory controller that makes the difference. The CPU itself, as far as it's processing power, is unchanged.
