is agp reli dead?

[darbz1987]

hi just heard dat they wont be making new agp cards because of pci express is dat true so is agp reli dead?

Since 2004, AGP has been progressively phased out in favor of PCI Express.

As of mid-2009, PCIe cards dominate the market, but new AGP cards and motherboards are still available for purchase, though OEM driver support is minimal.

AGP is old and slow compared to PCI-E.

AGP is not completely dead. But there are people fighting to pull the plug out of the wall.

No, you can still find ATI4670 with AGP.

Which is kind of pointless imo, considering pretty much any board with an agp slot has such a low amount of cpu power and memory that you cannot game on it anyhow these days. AGP Should have died off years ago.

They havent made highend AGP cards since GeForce 7 and Radeon 3000 series cards, and even then AGP was slow in comparison to PCIe, PCIe superseding AGP isnt particularly new
