i had 2 sticks of ram that were 256mbs.i changed 1 of them for 1gb of RAM.now i have something like 1.25gb of RAM.meaning 2 different sizes of RAM.is there any problems with this?thank you.

as long as there the same type, either DDR or DDR2 or DDR3 and both are supported by your motherboard it should work. You probably wont be able to run them in dual or triple channel though and your better off getting either 2 matched 1gb sticks or 2 matched 2gb sticks because 1.25gb is a bit on the low side.

The only thing is you may lose dual channel. But if you need the extra RAM (probably do) then losing it isn't a bad thing as you'll reduce page file use.

Like others said - you lose dual channel RAM - but the extra RAM with your setup is worth more in performance than dual channel function when your that is below what you need in terms of capacity.
