Looking for Portable, Cheap Lap/Net

I have a laptop but it's too heavy and distracting for what I want to do with it (which is writing). I don't have any other computers, just my laptop (which is part of the problem). I don't and won't have the money to buy a good quality gaming desktop like I want so I began looking for a crappy laptop instead. The theory is that a lighter laptop without any power at all would be less distracting because nothing but Word would run on it.

However I'm having trouble finding one. Or at least one with my desired specs. It needs to be very portable -with plenty of batteries- small, lightweight, maybe at most ten Gig's of HDD and less than 1 gig of RAM. No internet, or optional internet and no bloatware like virus protection etc. Also, preferably with XP... not Vista. And yet it doesn't seem to exist... or at least anywhere I can see. So I turn to people with contacts in the computer world to see if it can be found by people who know what to look for and where to find it.

Is it even possible? Does this 'dream' cheap thing exist?

Take note I'm pretty useless with my hands and building things often results in disaster. Still... if I need to build one I would prefer it to be cheap as well. I'm a poor student who is moving away from home with a cat to support. I have no money at all.

Well, back to Googling and clicking links...

Before you buy a netbook you should take in to account that it does not have a standard size keyboard on it. The keyboard(keys) are small and close together.

Pretty much all of these meet your needs

Except for the not having internet thing. They'll all be able to connect to the internet, but if you don't want it to have internet just don't connect it.
Quite a few of those have XP home as well, but honestly I don't have any problem with vista and I'm running it on 3 laptops and a desktop.

Ah, except for the fact I am in Canada. I did, however, look up Asus Netbooks on Tigerdirect and got some pretty good hits. Even a few on sale. And they all seem to be half the weight of WILBUR who causes severe tingling and numbness, not including the first degree burns (mainly the reason for the new laptop thing). Thanks for the link and ideas. I'll peruse the gallery a bit and think on it :)

I am aware they don't have a full keyboards but if I get one then Wilbur will become the 'desktop' and the new laptop the travel comp. It doesn't have to be perfect or comfy, simply light and travel-proof. At the moment every time I carry Wilbur my spine tries to liberate itself from it's skin prison and setting him up, pulling him out, putting him on my knees -which promptly go numb- takes too long and he's too cumbersome. For a writer on the go with back problems he is a terrible laptop. So something small that I could pull out if I'm bored and start typing on would be awesome (also, less distraction and temptation when listening to lectures especially considering how much extra crap Wilbur has on him).

Wut? Why did I not know about this? *is angry at the computer gods* I suppose it's mostly my fault for not typing it with .ca in the first place. *sigh* stupidity breeds stupidity.

But, thank you very much! That's pure awesome. I'll go peruse their gallery too...

No problem I hope you find what your looking for.
