Good Video Card For Gaming

To the OP, What motherboard and power supply do you have? Buying a big graphics card will yield you little performance gains if you have an OEM motherboard with PCIe 1.0 and a 400w dell power supply.

No worries he is build a new computer.

A 9800GT is better than a 3870 by a decent margin, a 4850 would be around the same price point and comparable to a 9800GTX/GTS 250

A 9800gt and 3870 are comparable. The 3870 has more flops, but the 9800gt has better memory.

The 4850 is the same as 9800gtx or 250 (the 9800gtx and 250 are the same cards with aa different name) myth is because of the similar price, however a 4850 is around the same mark as a gtx260, but alot cheaper

I'm assuming you meant 4870 here.

I would definitely go with a 4870 1gb for a lot more future proofing as far as gaming than a 4850. You will only spend $30-40 more, for 1/3 again more performance. You have the hardware to support it, why not run it?
