Right, I want to buy Win 7 when its released but im confused on which versions to get  Im wanting the Premium one 64-bit but the ones ive looked at all have like letters on them like "D" and "E", Can anyone explain whats going on here? Haha :good:

Haha i heard about not having IE but i thought that was for all versions? Owell i think its better with IE tbh :) Im just going to the bank to check my balance then im ordering mine ;)

I think you can actual install IE when you get it,Its just they cannot for some reason include it anymore.

I dont use IE anyway so no biggy for me.

It's because the EU cries that it's unfair for Microsoft to package the browser into the OS, because it snubs out other competing browsers.

Do they not understand, that if an OS has no browser, you can't go download a competing browser?

I use IE once per install. I open it and go to www.mozilla.com

You can thank the Lawyers for this. EU buyers gets to pay more for Win 7 as a result too.

Microsoft Corp. said today that it will raise prices for non-upgrade editions of Windows 7 sold in Europe starting Sept. 1.

But because most users will upgrade copies of Windows XP or Vista -- and those upgrade prices will remain unchanged -- or buy a new PC with Windows 7 already installed, only a minority will feel the extra pinch.

Also today, Microsoft announced that it will sell its multilicense "Family Pack" Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade to users in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K. for a limited time starting Oct. 22.

Windows 7's price jump is one of the side effects of Microsoft's decision last week to drop the "E" edition for European customers. In countries that use the euro, increases will range from €20 to €80; they will range between £30 and £70 in the U.K.

Microsoft has announced that it will ship a special version of Vista's successor in Europe, titled Windows 7 E, without Internet Explorer 8
The browser-less version, a reaction to an antitrust investigation by the EU into whether Microsoft is abusing its dominant position with Windows and Internet Explorer, will be distributed in all member nations of the European Economic Area as well as Croatia and Switzerland.

This is...interesting.

The news snippets are a bit out of date.
The latest proposal is during Windows 7 installation a "Ballot box" will appear with six of the most popular browsers, you then have the choice of your favourite browser easily downloaded and setup. They are hoping this is acceptable to the EU and also Microsoft talks of this being a worldwide answer to the problem so as to not have different OS's for global areas.

Nice.

Force Microsoft to include options for other companies software.

And people think Microsoft is evil? Wow.
