how to restore missing system 32 folder/file?

Thanks TFT but he's not talking (or mentioning) DOS
The C Prompt can be seen in both Windows and the Recovery Console

He knows what I'm talking about, just as you do
the command prompt was present in pre XP days (DOS,MSDOS whatever) and is still loosely termed as such in emulated mode.

System Restore is designed to bring back Windows System Files ironically
If that fails, then you have no choice but to backup and re-install clean (as per my original post)
Note: I also quoted Repair

Edit:
Yes I know what you mean too, but this thread is already confusing enough :D

..confusing?..not to me...

....i believe that is post 3?..at any rate, everything in that post was just tried and WILL NOT/DOES NOT work!!.....so, i suggested to him that another hd set as master, reinstall fresh to it, set "damaged" to slave, and see if any data accessible from slave to master and vice versa.....will be a few hours before any info on results...

OK

But leave the original drive (with data on it) out until Windows is fully installed on the new drive (by the way Cable Select on ATA drive is preferred)
Then shutdown, and then add the slave drive ;)
