Noob question about memory

I'm building my first PC, and buying my parts exclusively through Newegg, and I'm finding a set of 4 gig ram (2 x2GB) is cheaper then a set of 8 gig ram (4 x 2GB). the 4 gig set runs for $50 and the 8 gig set is $120 from the same manufacture and same thing (DDR2 800). Why is that? Am I all right ordering 2 sets of the 4 gig?

it must be more expensive because of production costs...

just get 2 sets of the 4gig, are you sure there exactly the same?

post link of both sets here

I'm using 64 bit Vista. My question was why is there a price difference not if I should go with 4 or 8 gig. I haven't made my final decision so I may change anyways.

im just guessing but i think it is production costs, because the only difference in the 2 sets is one is rated at 2.0v and the other 2.1...

go for the 4gig sets

Speaking from totally marketing point of view 8GB should be $100 and the 4GB should be $60 each, this is what we all see in the market and this is what makes sense for us. like buying a larger pack of washing powder is cheaper. But when newer technology and research and development gets involved the price of the product rises. this is why there is a raised price.
