Looking for some help

Hey everybody, I'm planning on trying my hand at building a computer. So far the only thing I think I've decided on is the CPU. I'm leaning towards the i5 750. There are so many motherboards that seem to me to be very similar with slightly different price ranges. I'm looking for some suggestions. I want to build a fast rig for surfing the net, very light gaming, and hobby video editing, and basic home use. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
 
I dont really have a price range on the motherboard simply because I dont know the difference between a $100 one and a $200. For my build I'm thinking between 800 and $1200 but if I have to get closer to 1500 to make a substantially better machine its not a problem.
 
Do you have many add-on card?
If not, GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 suit you.

If you need to accomodate more add-on card, get a ATX mobo instead
 
How about Gigabyte GA-EX58-EXTREME Core i7 Motherboard, this is latest high performance X58-Express Series motherboard....
 
Ha ha, I'm probably already in over my head, I dont even know what add-on cards are. It would make more sense for me to buy a pre-built but I really would like to use something I put together, appreciate all of the help so far.
