New build

I'm currently working up some $$ to get a new gaming computer; I'm having some trouble because I'm new at this but can you guys rate/comment on what I have so far?

Case: Gladiator 600 (Link) I like this case mainly because of it's cooling, size, and price; it could be better looking but in my case form follows function.

Hard Drive: WD Caviar Black 1TB (Link) I have seen alot of good things on this card and it has more memory than I'll ever need.

Power: Corsair CMPSU (Link) This seems to be the king but I don't know if it will be able to power everything; because I'm a newb :(

Graphics Card: Radeon 5870 (No Link) I will be working up the money for a while so this will be out by then, and it's expected to top the Nvida GTX295 while maintaining a lower price. How many should I get; I hear two is the max but I have no idea since their are like 7 slots to put them in O.o

My budget is around 3,000 U.S. but I can go up to 4.

They're umm... dead links, I don't know if it's just my computer, but I found most of it. Here it is: Case, HDD, I was unsure about the wattage you wanted for your PSU, but I found these: 650W, 750W. I would recommend the 750, in any case. It's a gaming comp, definitely go for the 5870 when it comes out, especially since you have up to $4,000 USD. Here's what I found out about the price of the ATI Radeon 5870: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,694169/Alleged-prices-for-the-Radeon-HD-5850-5870-and-5870-X2-sighted/News/, not sure if it's a reliable source, though.

I think thats about accurate, I saw somewhere it would be around 300. I think I'll be getting Corsair 850 HX as power supply; their pruducts are highly suggested and come at a good price.

Any suggestions for monitors? I'm hoping for a really nice LCD 22", but I'm not sure what would be the best as far as gaming goes.

The acer looks nice, I'm not sure if it will keep up with my comps output (again newbness) but if so I might get it.

ahh just looked, no HDMI... i think thats bad >.>

There is no video quality difference between them HDMI vs. DVI

Some how I got mixed up, I though HDMI was better. So I should shoot for a high resolution monitor; any good companies? I saw acer was ok but they had their share of problems, IE blurry sides and so on.

I found this but I think it's just a taaaad bit too expensive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&cm_re=DVI_LCD_monitor-_-24-176-071-_-Product

Are any current models going to be compatible with Windows 7?

Stoic your link crashes my web browser, not sure why can you sum it up for me?

If I want to save some money on a monitor I always buy Acer, probably have bought 20 of them over the last few years and hardly never have any trouble out of them. If I want to spend alittle more for a better quality one I usually buy LG monitors.

Both the Acer and LG seem to have the exact same spec's on their 21.5" which is probably what I'll end up getting. So which is better to go with (kinda leaning LG because their products are sleeker).

LG: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...5124&cm_re=LG_monitors-_-24-005-124-_-Product

Acer: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...09157&cm_re=ACER_21.5"-_-24-009-157-_-Product

EDIT: I may actually go with the LG 23" since LG is sleeker, has a higher contrast ratio, response time, and 1.5 more " for only 20 more bucks. Thoughts?

What browser are you currently using? And to sum it up, it says:
DVI vs. HDMI vs. Component Video -- Which is Better?

First, to clear away one element that can be confusing: DVI and HDMI are exactly the same as one another, image-quality-wise. The principal differences are that HDMI carries audio as well as video, and uses a different type of connector, but both use the same encoding scheme, and that's why a DVI source can be connected to an HDMI monitor, or vice versa, with a DVI/HDMI cable, with no intervening converter box.

Cant go wrong with an LG, Samsung, Asus, or Acer display imo.

DVI-D does something just under 4000x2500, too lazy right now to get the exact res. HDMI 1.3 only does 2500xsomething. HDMI 1.4 however will support higher res, but at 1920x1080 they are essentially the same.

Alright thats decided; now I'm wondering about motherboard. I will need one that can crossfire Radeon 5870's, as well as fit the specifications of the AMD phenom x4 955. I also heard this is one of the more important parts so I should go all out with it.

On the subject of graphics cards how many can you have? Could I buy like 8 and crossfire them all for increased performance or can you only crossfire two cards?

I'm starting to rethink my case; I would prefer a high tower with lots of ventilation at a decent price. Cooler Master does a good job but their designes are less than amazing.

arggg there are so many to chose from but none seem to have everything wrapped in one.
