GeForce 9800GT vs. 8800GTS

Could someone help me compare the two? I'm looking for an improvement from my 8800 that can run on a PSU of 420W, and 9800GT seems to fit that requirement.

Going from an 880GTS to a 9800GT is not that much of an improvement. It really would not be worth the money. I would save your money for the next couple months and find some Holiday Season deals and upgrade the power supply and graphics card.

Between those two card. Like said, you probably would not notice any difference at all. If you already have a 8800GTS, go atleast to a 4870 or GTX 260. Dont know what kind of power supply your 420W is, but thats pushing it.

How about a 8800GT 512? Power supply is apparently only 400W according to nVidia website.

Do you have 8800 GT 256? Even if you do, going to a 512 would be hardly an improvement unless you play at really high resolution. If your card isn't sufficient, I'd say wait a month until the market is saturated with the new Radeon's (probably new GeForce too) then buy the best value card, probably the 5850.

No, the 9800GT is just a renamed 8800GT. Like I said since you have a 8800GTS to see any difference you need to jump to atleast a 4870 or a GTX 260. But your running short on your power supply.
