It all started when i did an advised downloud of Explorer 8. All down hill from there. have been getting alot of internet explorer cannot display the webpage "site".

its like "big brother" is watching what i go onto and will not alow me to go to certian sites,

cannot even get to mozilla site.

That sounds like a bug on your computer. Install Malwarebytes: http://www.computerforum.com/131398-important-please-read-before-posting.html
And you should install CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloading
Those will help with bug issues and clearing tracking cookies and what not that's not allowing you to view those sites.
When you're done running scans and cleaning your computer, and you can get on to their, page I highly recommend Mozilla Firefox (which is probably what you were planning on doing in the first place). Keep us updated if you're still having these problems.

Thanks,

but seeings how i may have bugs, i cannot even get to the malware. but i already have it.

Just does it update its version by itself or do i need to do it?

I can't stand Internet Explorer 8. I installed it with a bunch of Windows updates I had been putting off. It hijacked my Fire Fox! I would click on certain things while surfing the web and they would open with IE8!

Have you thought about using something else and uninstalling IE8? There are many other options out there that are much better. I like Fire Fox because of the customization features and plug-ins they have for it. If you have never tried it...give it a shot! I would bet 50 - 60% of this forum uses Fire Fox.

cannot even get to mozilla site.
Please note this is not an Internet Explorer fault
The fault is either Malware or some network issue

Internet Explorer is still widely used by many sites including:
  • Microsoft Updates, including Windows and Office
  • Driver Updates, just about all manufactures support pages
  • Other auto detect updates, including Java; Adobe; System Specs
  • Possibly more I can't think of right this moment ;)
Yes install Firefox or which-ever other browser; this may even help when one of the browsers does not connect
But this in itself is not the fix.

what do you mean by that? you can get all those things with either firefox or chrome as well. and you can get microsoft updates without even using an browser.

that's a hardware scan thing, that finds the driver for you. you can still download any driver you want using firefox.

You might try this fix from a post on this site:

the post:

Here is the fix for users of IE 6 and 7 who are getting the "operation aborted" message. (Via user "Ferg" on another web site.)

Follow These Steps Exactly:

Open Internet Explorer.

Click on the menu Tools -> Internet Options.
Click on the tab Security.
Click on the icon Restricted Sites.
Click on the button Sites.
Under Add this website to the zone:
Type the text ‘ *.sitemeter.com ’ (with asterisk and dot & without the quotes).
Click the Add button. Click Close. Click OK.

All sites will work again without error messages coming up.

the possible explanation:

It seems like this IE error is occuring on all sites that contain the 'Site Meter' code... those with these websites can simply comment out that code, other than that people at home just browsing will have to wait till either Microsoft release a fix.

Just use FireFox 3.... much better than MS IE. go to mozilla.org and download now!!!

ie is okay. it's definitely better than ie7 faster and what not but it definitely isn't perfect. it's still way behind on everything from security to web standards. but there is a lot of people still using it. however if microsoft doesn't come up with a better version everyone else will switch over to firefox. I know I have.

we should have both of it... IE and Firefox. Both have their own good..
If the IE cannot open the web try use the Firefox. So for the otherwise. If both of it have problem maybe the problem is not the browser but the internet connection.

i use both of it...

When i use IE8, the bar that slides up leaves about 15-20 trails and then disappears. i dont know why but it annoys the crap out of me. thank god firefox doesn't do that.
Also, when firefox came out with tabs in their browser, IE quickly followed.

Are you asking for help on that?
Because I'm running IE8 and it doesn't do that (obviously)
Did you run the IE Reset yet ;)

You should post your issue in the Microsoft Answers Internet Explorer Forum - http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threads

The support folks there will have a solution for you.

Jake? Another one of you guys hey ;)

Please note we are presently on a tech forum already !
Members don't need to ask questions somewhere else, they can just ask here
HP was mentioned as well, should the member join HP forum? Why didn't you mention that?

If you are going to supply support here, do that. But don't say go somewhere else !!!
