How much performance will overclocking my E4500 give me?

I will end overclocking me E4500 with my new mobo (thanks again scout) to hold out on buying a new processor, most likely a Q6600, for a while.

Its' stock speed is 2.2ghz. How much performance increase would i see if i bumped it up to 2.8ghz or 3.0ghz, or even higher?

I'm using this cooler and AS-5

My case is well ventilated. The fan the side of my case (140mm) basically provides everything on the mobo with cool air and my PSU puts all the hot air out the back.

Really big improvement I would have to say. I have a E5200, stock 2.5GHz and OC'ed to 3GHz and I have to say I get about 25% more FPS in games as well as quicker computer overall. Try not to increase Voltage.

Ok thanks for that. The E5200 is a none too shabby CPU as well.

any overclock will be good for your systems speeds, for everything like booting, running music, internet, basically programs that use few resources but use quite a bit of CPU time when booting will boot faster and you will see improved frame rate in games.

It is well worth it, you can do a fairly small one (up to 50% maybe) and you will see slight performance increase, anything over that will be like having a new system.

As matthew said, try not to bump voltages up too high, it will cause alot of heat aswell as possibly damage the chip if you go too afr, also the higher it is, the less time your processor will last (it will still last a good many many years :P)

Hey i have an E4500 and it overclocks really well! i mean ive got 3.4GHz and thats pretty much the max you can get out of it. Even then its very stable and increased my performance a huge amount :D My cooler isnt that great yet its still very stable so go overclock it!!!

Did you increase voltage? What are your temps? Which cooler?
I'm really looking for the best prior knowledge. I haven't done an overclock on a CPU since my old Athlon XP 1500+

Thought so.
Speaking of voltages, Speedfan reports my core #2 voltage at 1.79v
I think that is wrong, however core #2 is always 2-5*c hotter than core #1
Wouldn't 1.79v fry a cpu?

Honestly, I trust CPU-Z more than speedfan. CPU-Z says core voltage is 1.152v, nothing about core #1 or #2

EDIT: My voltage changes slightly because of speedstep. from 1.152v idling to 1.280v full speed.
