Hi all, I have a slight problem you may be able to help me with. Recently when i click on a AVI file to run it in WMP a web page opens directing me to a "all in one media played site.'

The AVI files are downloaded torrents.

I have up to date virus, malware, spyware software and it hasn't detected in viruses or anything that could cause the issue.

I haven't downloaded anything that i know of or updated any codecs so i'l hoping it is an easy fix.

Thanks for your help in advance.

This still sounds like you have an infection. What security software do you have installed and scanned with?

Kapersky 2010 Internet Security.

I downloaded and ran a Malware program and it detected and deleted a hijack.startup something or other. But the issue with the AVI's still happens.

Have a look here: ***************IMPORTANT: Please read before posting********************

Please note: Before running any scans, please disable or uninstall any/all File Sharing Programs

It is likely your AVI is trying to source a malicious Codec file
The AVI may itself be ok, but sourcing the update could have caused a security issue (I'd say likely)

The program i'm using is Utorrent. And i've made sure is isn't running. I read the sticky prior to posting and the Malware program detected and removed something but didn't fix the issue.

Do you have something i can try to fix the issue????

Ok, i ran Gspot and it came up and said that i needed a WVC1 codec. I still agree that something is hijacking the AVI files but don't know how to find it.

The malware is actually embedded into the AVI file, everytime you want to play it, it wants to "phone home" for a license to play it. Do yourself a favor and delete every file that comes up with that and download it legally.

Technically we can't even help you as its against forum rules.

Yep, fair enough. I'll do as you suggest.
