what would you recommend that would be compatible?

would it be a noticable difference to add 2x 2mb extra ram?

Well I wouldn't get that 4890 because it is probably going to bottleneck the rest of you computer. I would go with a 4850 and a new power supply if you upgrade your CPU and RAM then I would suggest a 4870 or 4890. What kind of motherboard do you have it is probably possible that you motherboard will support some of the new Phenom II CPU's if that is so then I would upgrade to a Phenom II 720 or an Athlon II. If it does not support new CPU's then look into getting a Phenom X4 9850. Getting more RAM would probably be a good Idea.

I posted the specs in above. Not very organized, but listed in the first Quote
box is what is installed currently, and the second Quote box is compatibility.

No Phenom II I'm afraid. Only 95watt Gen. 1 Phenom's.

I complety missed you post my bad.

If he has the money then he should upgrade to a Phenom 9850. Then get a 4870 and a new power supply. The if he wants he can add 4GB of RAM. After all that he will have one nice computer.

If you can't upgrade your CPU then just go with a new Graphics card, new PSU, and new RAM. I'm thinking a 4870 would be the best for you anything more would probably just be bottlenecked by your CPU.
