What's the general opinion on the i7? I do a ton of processing work, from large photoshop files, to video editing, and play the ocassional game. I've read plenty of articles on them, but I wouldn't mind some personal opinions from people who own them. What about the performance gain from the tripple channel ram?

here's my current NewEgg wish list of parts, opinions are more than welcome. if i could lower the cost and still maintain the same qualit of components, please speak up. video card will have to wait, not trying to spend a grand for the main guys of a computer.

Pretty good stuff.. I have that MOBO and CPU but I havent pushed it to its limits due to PSU issues. So Far I like it...

I second Bodaggit23--Go for an i5 setup--you won't be disappointed.

As far as the rest of the components, make sure you get a new hard drive if you don't have one--at least a 1TB. The larger capacities bring larger data density and faster read/write speeds--the 1TB are usually around 100MB/s.

DVD Burner: Your Choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&Order=RATING

That leaves you with about $365 for the rest--do you need Windows?

As far as video cards, these are good options:
4850: Great performance for the price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102824
4870: Really good value--a step up from the 4850 for just a bit more. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150436
5850: Just released--amazing performance, and not to expensive, though it's hard to find in stock. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150442
