PSU Hopefully

Bad Voodoo

I just finished my first built, but i'm extremely concern hopefully someone can assure my that my PSU is the problem..

When I finished my assembly did the drum roll and nothing happened verified all conections, cpu and mem and still nothing.. LED lights on MOBO where on but nothing. After a few hours took the PSU off and replaced it with an old one and everything fired up...woot woot... So I boxed the PSU and RMA it..

Second problem, I continued to load all programs and set the comp up.. When I went to load a game and entered the game site via internet it shut down my entire computer and then came back stating the usual "windows shut down etc etc.. This happened three times

My question is the PSU i was running (temporarily) insufficient to power my comp? The temparary PSU is 500 watt MSI.

Should I be looking at other possible issues?

the comp is as following

ASUS P6T V2 deluxe
I7 920
GTX 285 Vid card
Samsung HDD
V10 Cooler master

I RMA a 1200 watt PSU Cooler master?

What? No need anywhere for 1kw power supply on an i7, even tri sli doesnt need more than an 850W.

Why do you have a 1200W? That setup would easily run on a quality 600 or 650W unit. That 500W is probably insufficient, but the 1200W is major overkill.

Because I dont know any better, operate with the mindset more is better... But with the RMA is either refund 15% restock or replace.. i replaced it.. The good thing is I have plenty of room in my case and now enuff watts to hook up christmas lights...

On the serious side so It probably is my temporary PSU... Ok well I should know in about three - five days... Thanks

Also.... that V10 if you can get them to replace it would a good move, as its not a very good cooler, and quite a few coolers surpass it(Prolimatech Megahalems, True, IFX-14 to name a few). The TEC in the V10 is underpowered as are most tec's in general.
