Repeater kills wife's PC everytime

I finally got a wireless repeater for my Linksys Router.
I had my PC wired directly into router but my wife's PC in a room 40 feet away was witha pci wireless card, and everything worked fine.
In a previous post I was having trouble with a PC in our guess cottage 200 feet away, It would at first pick up the signal from my Linksys but the signal would fade in 60 seconds.
I bought a wireless repeater and placed it in our bedroom window and the signal is sent to the cottage great. I put the Cottage PC antenna in the window over there, which is a perfect line of sight, window to window connection. It works great!!!!

But when the wireless repeater power is plugged, the wireless signal my wife's pC was picking up is then gone. She no longer has internet connection.

When I unplug the repeater, her PC works again.

Her wireless PC is 40' away from the router and in between the router and the repeater.

The repeater sends the signal to the cottage great, but kills the wireless signal to her wireless pC

Is the repeater omnidirectional?

I thought the repeaters were omnidirectional or evenly sent signal.

Is there a stronger side?

The repeater is on the other side of my wife's pc from the wireless router.

The linksys wireless router is closer to my wife's pc than to the repeater.

Linksys in House .........Wife's PC ...........Repeater..............PC in Cottage

The signal to the cottage is very strong with the repeater plugged in and the signal from the Linksys wireless router is almost in a straight line with the wif's PC to the repeater and on to the PC in the guess house.

But when I plug in the repeater the wife's pc linksys signal is lost. The repeater kills the signal to the PC in the middle of the signal traveling from Linksys router to the cottage.

Shouldn't the signal to the wife's PC be better with the repeater on?

Any more suggestions that might help

My first thought would be that the repeter is sending out such a strong signal that it's overwhelming your wifes wireless card. I would try turning down the power on the repeter and maybe even on the wireless rotuer as well to see if that helps.

Hmm... Perhaps your modem can only support 1 wireless connection at a time?

How would that work? All wireless connections are handled by the router not the modem. The modem doesn't care whether its drawing bandwidth for wired connections or wireless.

Edit: My thoughts is you need a static IP address so the repeater doesn't get confused.

Try giving this guide a whirl and let me know if you need anything explained.
