Help deciding wich OS to use

i know my cpu sucks but here are the specs
Intel Celeron 900 @ 2.20 GHz
2gig RAM
1TB+ HD

Right now i have Vista Home Basic, and was looking to install a new OS i can get Vista Ultimate but do you think my computer would be able to run that?

Or i was looking into trying Ubunto via Wubi, but there are different types of Ubuntu, Now i know Kubuntu is the higher grade version, and Xubuntu is for lower end computers? which would be best for me, could i install the regular Ubuntu or Kubuntu without problems? thanks, im just looking to try better things for my computer because Vista home basic sucks. oh ya and how would my pc do running 64 bit lol

What do you do with your computer? (Gaming, surfing etc..)
I would recommend waiting for the release of Windows 7 on Oct. 22nd. It uses less resources than Vista, meaning it's faster. But, in order to select an OS for you, we need to know what you want to do with it first ;)
 
well i dont play any Pc games, mostly i just browse, watch videos(720p runs fine on my current) download, listen to music with itunes, write text documents, edit audio and rip dvd thats about it

lol no mostly all i do at the same time is itunes, firefox, utorrent, and dvd rip and they work good a little laggy. But i just want to try something different then Vista Home Basic cause its boring most of the time i only use 800mb of RAM,

I hope you're not doing any illegal activity, but let's say you aren't, I would upgrade the RAM to at least 1GB and then you can upgrade to Windows 7 32-bit.
