Crysis Crash

Hello everyone,
I just recently purchased Crysis and started up the missions. However, at this point, about every two minutes it quits out giving me the message something along the lines of "Display driver crash: nvlddmkm has stopped working but has recovered". I've googled the message quite a bit but have not got a definitive answer on the cause. Here are my specs (those I deem related, that is):

Windows Vista Ultimate, SP2
Core 2 Quad Q6600
6GB RAM: 4GB PC2-5300, 2GB PC2-6400
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB; Forceware driver 191.07
Creative Labs SB X-Fi

Have you updates the game to version 1.2? download the patch if you haven't.
Defrag your HDD if you haven't already.

You have the Latest Nvidia Drivers? If so then try doing a rollback to the previous drivers. It could just be problems with the latest drivers. To do a rollback open Device Manager. Then click "Display adapters" and right click your card (9800gt) and click "Properties". Go down and click "Rollback drivers".

I guess that was kind of stupid of me to not patch the game first :o, so far it seems to be more stable. I'll keep testing ;)

As for drivers, I've already tried quite a bit, all with the same problem. That is, I've tried several between 170 and 190. If the patch doesn't work I'll test older ones.

Thanks all!

Erg, turns out the patches didn't do it. It seems to crash less, but I'm not going to go say it was the patches that did it. I guess I'll try a defrag next. Maybe a memtest after that. This is starting to be aggravating...

I've found something about disabling or editing Vista's TDR settings. Does anyone want to help me doing this; I'm a little unsure on editing registry values without someone with more experience behind me.

Update: I get the same crash whilst playing Crysis: Warhead. I'm not sure where to go now. I'll run a defrag. Any other ideas?

there is something wrong with dx10 and this game.. It did the same for me i had to run the game in dx9 mode. see if it works for you just right click the crysis shortcut then properties, in the shortcut tab there is a line called "target", at the end of that put -dx9

like this: \Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9
