Does the windows 7 upgrade disc come with a serial number?

It might come with one preinstalled, but since you need an activated copy of Windows already installed, it seems moot.

this is iffy, i mean there are ways to crack your vista to make it activated with full updates, so i would think ms would know this would have to include some way to make sure the upgrade has a sn or something.

It's not an illegal "crack". You can install Vista from the upgrade disc and not activate it, therefore allowing a 30 day trial.

Then put the upgrade disc back in and "upgrade" from the trial. This is a well known fact.

Windows 7 is different. It requires an "Activated" copy, not a 30 day trial, but an actual installed and activated copy of Windows before you can upgrade.

I did hear a rumor that this may not be true though. :o

no im not saying sayin it is, im trying to say that there are cracks that will activate your os, and allow for full updates and everything from ms. so i would think ms would include a serial or something since they know that they are out there, but im not sure.

I'm still missing your point, and it's against the rules to discuss such things.

You think by adding a key it will stop hackers. lol

im not discussing SUCH THINGS, and obviously it wont stop hackers i dont know how to say what im try any different i could try using smaller words. If an upgrade disc does not come with a serial number or some way to activate you could install it on any machine you wanted even un legit ones as long they look activated.

Also i think it comes with a key because you can do a fresh install using an oem disc.
