I'm rebuilding my system with some new parts and i need to know if all this will function, especially the video card.

Motherboard: ASUS M4A785-M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 620 Propus 2.6GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor Model ADX620WFGIBOX

Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

GPU: XFX PVT98GYDLH GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card

PSU: COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS-500-PCAR-A3 500W ATX12V V2.3 Power Supply

RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK

Any help/advice would be great.

thx

Everything should work fine, although the 9800GT is getting a little dated... And you have an AMD build, so why not get a 4850? not saying it will work better if you match brands, but a 4850 is better than a 9800gt.

I recommend going with a 4850 because then it should be on the dragon platform, which supposedly the parts are designed to work together better.

It would be better to get DDR3 RAM. The DDR2 RAM price goes up a lot this month.

PSU - COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power is not really good. I belive real pro are better. But it is better to those no brand PSU.

GPU - Get 4770 or 4850. Go for 4770 if they are at same price.

will DDR3 ram work with that motherboard?

the reason i was going to get DDR2 is beacause on the MOBO specs it said memory supported DDR2. Idk if that matters or not.

That PSU is only like 40 bucks which is why im getting it, and i read the reviews and it seems fine.

And as for the graphics card, can someone give me a link to a good 4850 on New Egg that would go with this setup.

thx
