Hi there,

I´ve replaced my original HHD by an Intel SSD.
I´ve cloned all 3 partitions
Partition Recovery
Partition System
Partiton Acer

Partition System ist the active partition.

Problem: the notebook won´t boot from the SSD

The SSD shows up in the bios, boot order in 1st place.
Booting from USB-Stick is possible, also using the repair Options from Windows 7. All partitions and volumes on the SSD show up in diskpart.

But after all, it won´t boot from the SSD.

System Details

Acer 1810TZ-412G25n

Windows 7 HomePremium (64Bit)
Intel SSDSA2MH160G2C1
no DVD device

I need help
Cheers Chris

What messages if any do you get, is it just the standard boot device not found ro something else?

I know XP/Vista(and probably 7) are quite picky about drive settings and such. I'm wondering if the interface is somehow different and you're going to essentially reload Windows fresh on that drive.

If it's just a hard drive replacement, you should be good to go after cloning the drive.

Yeah... Normally I'd agree with you, but seeing as it's an SSD, I don't know if it's accessed differently than a standard SATA. I've still yet to get my hands on a SSD to play with so I'm pretty new to the whole thing... Just a suggestion :P

Hmm...that's almost certainly not a windows error. It's almost like it's not getting your boot sector or something. What exactly are you using to clone?

From the controllers view it's the same - ATA command in, data out :)
The message right after start is

No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.

Yeah, there's a problem with the boot loader. If the clone program didn't copy the boot sector over then that's likely your problem.
