What idiots. They knew about this with Vista, and now they've made it
even easier, and they're warning us?

Microsoft warns Windows 7 users that popular 'upgrade hack' is illegal

Microsoft says the "hack" – which enables tech-savvy computer users to perform a clean install of Windows 7
on a blank hard drive using upgrade software discs – is illegal, and invalidates the customer's End User License Agreement.

Warning about what? It seems pretty straightforward that hacking an upgrade would count as "Going against the End-User License agreement".

haha microsoft is a joke!

invalidates the customer's End User License Agreement.

as if anyone cares about that...as long as people are saving cash and get a valid copy of 7 they wont care and continue to do the upgrade thing.

Like said, the same thing could be done in Vista,Its micrososts own fail that they didnt fix this to prevent people taking advantage of this, cant blame people for doing it!

LOL. GG Microsoft. Meh, doesn't matter. So someone will save a few bucks by buying the upgrade instead of the OEM or full version.

I guess there is a "hack" listed in my edited post.
But is it still really a hack when Microsoft enabled their software to be manipulated so easily?

I guess so huh...

Oh, and btw, ROFLMAO @ the fookin "Spynoodle"!!!

I have seen many people having a heck of a time trying to install the upgrade with an existing Vista drive. Just Google it...it's everywhere. There is thousands of people that cannot use the upgrade properly...of course they will do a clean install.:D

My local store has a 3 pack of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit upgrade kit for $139. I have 3 computers. I was going to buy it...came home and did some reading...I'll wait a while for Windows 7!

Vista has worked flawless for me...been running Ultimate 64bit and Home Premium 64bit for almost 2 years now on both. I actually really like Vista.

Ahh, the fall of the "Golden Child".

It's in every forum in every country around the world...I swear.

People are starting to have major issues with it. I was reading on overclock.net where some people had a great install of the retail version and like a week later it crashed and said the key was not valid!:good:

My copy is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Wish me luck. haha. I plan to wipe Vista and do a clean install.

And Scout, a couple weeks ago my RC install claimed that my copy of 7 wasn't genuine. wtf? I got the key from the M$ website...

Well I am finding this amusing....looks like MS did a GREAT job at making people love 7 so after they bought it then it was busted ^-^

Its like original Vista launch but sneakier.

Thank god I don't plan to upgrade ><

I haven't upgraded yet, but plan to. It seems to get good reviews, even from Vista-bashers.
