Radeon HD 5770 upgrade. Will I be happy?

yes you will be very very happy,i upgraded from a 8800gt to a 4890 and the diffrence is like night and day seriusly.

One alone will be a powerhouse,i dont realy think its worth going Crossfire though.

btw your mobi is SLI....not crossfire so you cant have two unless you get a new mobo.

yeah i know id have to get a new board but im going ot be building a new system soon but i figured hey why not get a video card first since i can support it in my system currently and then buy the other parts during the next few weeks.

Arr thats good :) ARe you running stock cooling on yours? I was thinking of changing cooler because mines really loud :(

Yup...stock cooling,Its not actualy that loud...even when it goes up to 80% during gaming.

stock clocks aswell and it still eats through gta iv high settings.

My clocks are all messed up it says my core is set at 240mhz apposed to 850mhz so when i try and change it to 850mhz it always says its already set to that value i dont get it? Its shows it in the CCC, CPU-Z and GPU-Z

i think thats an energy feature to save energy when its not needed so it downclocks...which is good because it saves energy and the card cools down.

id actualy wait a bit....get a 5850...5870 but its your choice...the 5770 should be good though.

I plan on buying one of these cards! let me know how it goes! the card is apparently stuck right between the 4850 and 4870 in terms of performance in games.

All Ati cards clock down when not in games to save power and reduce heat. my 3870 goes down to 300mhz when idle and clocks up to 776mhz in games.

Would rather have a 4890 then a 5770 anyday. Really would probable have a 1GB. 4870 then a 5770 too. 5000 series are to high right now for the performance, plus only having 128 bit memory.

they use GDDR5, the whole 5xxx series. i guess they worked out that GDDR3/256bit was slower than GDDR5/128bit. But i'm not certain on that.

At first I did, but after I saw the prices on the 5700 series, I dont like them. The 4850 and 4870 overall are faster and cheaper and thats not even counting the 4890 which will burn them a new one. The DirectX 11 not worth that much! AMD/ATI are going to dry up the 4000 series just to force the 5700 series on everyone.

I agree...i say again, because ati made it DX11 everyones going mad...saying its going to be awesome,But tell me guys...when DX10 cards came out how many games did you see that makes advantage of dx10?

still to this day there isnt all that many.

Well, the clockspeeds of GDDR5 tend to make up for the 57x0 cards.

However, the 4890 is still the champ as far as price to performance, while if you really want a great upgrade wait for Fermi to come out, will more than likely drop prices of the 5850 and 5870.

The 5750 is not that bad of a deal, if you can find any at a good price. Pretty equal to a 4850. From what I have heard 40nm. bad yield rates, hope they change to GF next year. But to me the 5770 is pointless. The 4870/GTX 260 is alittle better and the 4890/GTX 275 stomps it.
