Borderlands

It is really a badass game, if you like lvling up, stats, a shitload of guns and FPS's this is for you. I would highly recommend it.

i dont think the graphics are bad at all, they werent shooting for the best graphics. and gameplay the game was not that boring i choose a soldier so maybe the character you chose is boring. im on playthrough 2 right now lvl 40

Nah I used my friends level 36 soldier too, still found it overly repetative

It's entertaining and has fair amount of content and the graphics are good, it is based off the Aurora engine from Bioware. They just didn't want it to look like every other game out there. 'Realism' is fine for me in some games but this game has more style than realism. I am not saying it is for everyone though.

I agree with you in the theme, I think they were sat on a kickass game, i mean the graphics are different to most other RPGs out there, in a good way, as is the gameplay system, there aren't many proper FPSRPGs and this could have been revolutionary and, like C&C was to the RTS genre, like doom to the FPS genre, this could have been one of the pioneers of the FPSRPG genre, but I think they should have made the world bigger, they should have let you freely explore better, I think they should have had more places for you to go at one stage. It is a sandbox game that seems amazingly linear, but hidden under a sandbox style game. If you grind or level, you have to go from one place, to the next, to the next, to the next, there is no going where you like and having 3 or 4 options per level to go to. I know there are options, within the area, but it is just a desert setting eveerywhere, you should be able to branch out earlier than you do, you should be able to have more freedom, not be stuck doing the same stuff all of the time

Brilliant so far, i thought the graphics would annoy me but they add a certain style to the game, works perfectly. Im only about 5 hours in and already must have got through 50 guns! Can't fault it at all, really enjoying it so far.

HOWEVER..... what the hell is the mulitplayer about, its a disgrace. The few servers i can get on are stupidly laggy - making it barely worth it. Its doubtful they'll bother with dedicated servers, but at least make it remotely functionable!

Had the same problem with the last Brothers In Arms from Gearbox, a crap multiplayer build, only difference is, Borderlands is basically made for its co-op :(

i was said then i realized there where only 4 non unique different guns per class (sniper rifle, pistol, ect.) its the same guns other and other in different colours and with different ammo types

GHEY!

That makes me said. I remember the article I read in PC Gamer. They kept repeating other and other that there would be a huge amount of guns.

Oh well. So said.

you found different ammo ? I only got the sniper, revolver, repeater, MG, SMG and shotgun ammo, you mean there is moe outside of that for each gun?

I actually made an incorrect statement, it is based off the unreal engine, I was thinking of a different game. My bad!

but it is just a desert setting eveerywhere

The whole point of the game is its on a desert landscape world. They've included towns, caves, outposts, open expanses and valleys and canyons - personally i cant complain. Surely Fallout is worse for this sort of thing as the landscape is unchanging throughout?

I do agree that it is a bit linear though, going back and forth can be repetitive. However, fast travel makes things easier. For what it is, i think this games brilliant, really original and atmospheric. Obviously it works for some, and not for others...

About the graphics - cell shaded graphics are brilliant if you ask me, more like art work than attempting to look real

I know it is meant to be a desert landscape, I don't mean that I wanted it to start out as desert, then be a sprwaling city, then a jungle, then a boat, I mean if you look at pictures of a dessert, it isn't all flat, rocky and brown. Everything in Borderlands is the same shade of dirty brown, everything is flat rock floor with rock outcrops that you can walk up a rock path to get to the top of the rocky cliff, everywhere looks the same.

I think Fallout did have quite a bit of differences in places in all honestly, but subtley. It is a post nuclear apocalyptic world, everything is going to look similar, everything has just been bombed, but they managed to get different looking types of settlements, they managed to get lots of different types of buildings in different places, tehre are lots of different looking world props, hidden around places there are different landscapes, like Rivet City and Oasis, that was supposed to look samey because of where it is set though, this is a made up time and they could play with it how they want but tehy said "red rocks everywhere will do :D

Fair point.

I've only played about 10 hours so i cant really stand a proper defense for the game, just that im enjoying it a lot so far. I could nit pick problems, but on the whole i think its excellent, and lets be honest, its a bash at something original isnt it, like it or not.

I'll tell you what looks original: RUSE, that looks like it could be potentially a kick ass game. But then again, it could be great on paper but in practice a pretty poor idea

=3100=

They say "a few hundred thousand weapons" ... HOLY ****!! The reason they have so many is, get this, so you can find the one that clicks for you haha.

They used a weapon generator that must work wonders!

haha its awesome but kinda repetitive.
its like playing diablo2
finish baal in normal and then play the whole thing again in nightmare. and so forth.
lots of guns but i wish you could mod them yourself.

after a while for i found i kinda boring. buti tink playing online is the best.!
