I am preparing to build a new computer and I wanted to get some advice from more experienced builders before I spend a lot of money. I am a pilot and I have built a flight simulator that I use to train and stay current. I am running Microsoft Flight Simulator X on my current system, and I am not satisfied with the performance. This flight simulator has intense 3D graphics and renders images about 100 miles away. What I want is to be able to run this program as best as I can. Here is a list of the items I plan on buying.
Intel Core i7 Processor i7-950
eVGA 132-BL-E758-TR Motherboard
eVGA GeForce GTX 295
OCZ Platinum 6GB
Microsoft Windows 7
I run the program with two monitors. One is a 19” at 1024X768 resolution that I use to display flight instruments which are not too graphic intensive. The other is a 32” at 1366X768 resolution that displays the outside cockpit view which is very graphic intensive.
So here is what I would like to know, would I be better off getting two less capable graphic cards so each monitor can have its own, run both monitors off the GeForce 295, or get two GeForce 295s? Also, is there anything else about my build I should be concerned about such as bottle necks, better hardware, or new hardware coming out soon.
Thanks.
