I am just looking for some people that have OCed this particular CPU/MoBo. What were your numbers? Was it easy OCing it? This will be my first time so any advice? I have read the 101 for it but im still a little edgy about it :D

MoBo:EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz
CPU Cooler:TT120
RAM:OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB

Any other advice would be helpful. My whole rig is in my sig, and if it makes a dif my room temp varies from between (55f-75f) If i leave my window open it gets to 55f or less, if its closed and its been sunny it gets warm in here.

PS: my coretemps idel(or extreamly light use) are 42, 29, 37, 37c. The highest ive seen them get under full load(using Prime 95) was 48, 46, 48, 45c that was after 15mins. It is also fairly cool in my room right now, id guestamate that it would be more around 50-53c if it was warmer in my room.

i normally don't pay attention to my temps, unless the computer locks up or randomly reboots or gives errors, but i have an antec900 so i know its cool.
i was able to OC my 9550 to 3.57 ghz on 420 fsb. it was stable but almost created a hurricane in my case, at least that's what it sounded like running all those fans.
i have it running at a very fast, very stable 3.4 ghz. on 400 fsb.

What is your multiplier at, 6? i dont really feel like doing the simple math off the top of my head :P Thanks for the information!

the multiplier, or cpu clock ratio, is locked at 8.5, only the Xtreme quads have variable multipliers.
to get 3.4ghz, set the fsb, or cpu clock, to 400: 400 x 8.5 = 3400

this is a good, very common OC for the 9550. if you can't keep it cool enough, you might want to upgrade your cooling. if it doesn't give you any problems, you can try to go higher, but go slow, like i said, mine tops at 420 fsb, anything higher and it doesn't boot, ymmv.
